Ferrari on podium in Race-2 of Road to Le Mans

    Le Mans Cup

    Le Mans 14 giugno 2025

The second race of the Road to Le Mans, held as a prelude to the highly anticipated 24 Hours at the Circuit de la Sarthe, resulted in another podium finish for Ferrari, with third place secured by the number 52 AF Corse entry of Vincent Abril and Laurent De Meeus.

The race, characterised by three Safety Car periods due to incidents across the various classes, saw four 296 GT3s finishing in the top ten positions.

Having contested the leading positions in the early stages, the car from the Piacenza-based team crossed the line in fourth place but was promoted to third following a time penalty imposed on the car in front.

The number 51 AF Corse entry, runner-up in Race 1, secured fifth place following a last-lap move by Eliseo Donno, who shared the 296 GT3 with Alessandro Cozzi.

The third AF Corse Ferrari, number 55, featuring Christoph Ulrich and Leonardo Colavita, claimed seventh place ahead of the number 17 Kessel Racing entry driven by Lorenzo Innocenti and Andrea Belicchi.

It was a challenging outing for the other car from the Swiss team, the number 33 piloted by Murat Cuhadaroglu and David Fumanelli, which was forced to retire due to a collision.

The other two Ferraris, the number 23 Biogas Motorsport entry of Josep Mayola Comadira and Marc Carol Ibarra, and the number 21 AF Corse car of Gino Forgione and Michele Rugolo were also out of the race early due to an incident in the opening stages.

The next round of the Le Mans Cup – the fourth of the season, of which the Road to Le Mans is a part – takes place on 23 August at Spa-Francorchamps.
