    Face-to-face with Hendrik Viol

    Brno 08 giugno 2025

It's a special weekend for Hendrik Viol, a driver for Scuderia Praha Racing. On Saturday, 7, and Sunday, 8 June, the 2025 Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Europe heads to the Brno circuit in the Czech Republic, and Viol is one of only two Czech drivers (alongside Martin Havas) competing in the series. He arrives at his “home” round as the leader of the Trofeo Pirelli Am standings. We caught up with him in his pit garage, surrounded by family and friends who have come to support him on the 5.4-kilometre Brno track.

Hendrik, you’re racing in the Czech Republic; does competing at Brno evoke any added emotion?

Yes, of course, it’s a special feeling. The track is fantastic. I haven’t driven much at Brno, but it’s always a great deal of fun. There’s also a special atmosphere – lots of friends have come to visit. My family is here too, and they’re enjoying their time with me, which is, of course, fantastic.

What is your ultimate aim for this season in the Ferrari Challenge?

The aim is to lead the championship at the end of the season. We're halfway through and currently leading the standings, so we must make the most of every race and stay at the top.

What’s the current state of motorsport in your country?

It's in a good place at the moment. Here in Brno, the Ferrari Challenge is one of the biggest event held on this circuit, attracting a large number of fans. There’s been a tremendous turnout, with lots of tickets sold and strong marketing backing it, which definitely makes a difference.

Do you have a good relationship with the other drivers?

There's healthy competition, but at the end of the day, we all get along, and we're friends.

What connects you in particular to Ferrari, its history and its brand?

I grew up in the era when Michael Schumacher was winning in Formula 1 with Ferrari – that was my childhood.

What are your thoughts on the Ferrari 296 Challenge?

The car is fantastic. I view it as a significant step forward compared to the 488 Challenge. It’s a lot of fun, has plenty of power, and boasts impressive aerodynamics. Everything about the 296 Challenge is impressive. It's truly a pleasure to drive.
